What does pistachio and raspberry cake taste like?
It tastes nutty first and tart second. Pistachio brings a deep, roasted, slightly green nuttiness — rounder and softer than almond, closer to the flavor of the nut itself than to any syrup version of it. Then the raspberry arrives: bright, acidic, a little floral, cutting straight through the richness.
That contrast is the whole point of the cake. Nut flavors on their own can sit flat and sweet on the palate; berry acidity lifts them and resets your mouth between bites. It's why the slice reads as light even though pistachio is a rich flavor, and why people who normally skip dessert tend to finish this one.
If you like your sweets on the tart side, this is the slice to start with. If you prefer gentler, mellower sweetness, the Honey Cake (medovik) is the other direction entirely.
Is the cake made in-house?
Yes — the cakes at New Level Coffee & Bakery are made in-house daily, including the Pistachio & Raspberry. It isn't shipped in frozen from a commissary, and it isn't a supermarket cake with our sticker on the box.
It's sold by the slice, so you can have it with a drink while you're here or take it with you. That also means you can try it once without committing to a whole dessert project — a slice is a reasonable way to decide whether a cake is worth coming back for.
The rest of the case is made the same way. You can see the full lineup on our cakes and desserts page.
What drink goes with it?
A latte is the easiest match, and an iced latte is the easiest match in Florida weather. Milk softens the raspberry's acidity and gives the pistachio something to lean on, while the espresso underneath keeps the pairing from getting too sweet.
Other good options from our espresso menu:
- Cappuccino — less milk than a latte, so the coffee stays more forward against the fruit.
- Americano or espresso — if you want full contrast and no dairy getting in the way.
- Caramel Macchiato — sweeter, and it plays up the nutty side of the slice.
- Iced Tea Premium or a Fresh Lemonade — if you'd rather not have coffee in the afternoon.
More on matching slices to cups in our guide to coffee and cake pairings, and the cold version has its own page: iced latte in Pompano Beach.

Where can you find pistachio cake near you?
We're at 698 East McNab Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33060, on McNab Road in the north part of the city. Hours are 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM every day, Monday through Sunday, weekends included. The phone number is +1 786-606-1786 if you need to reach us.
Searching for pistachio cake near you in this part of Broward County turns up a lot of grocery-case options and not many bakeries that make their cakes on site, which is why people drive in from outside Pompano Beach. Lighthouse Point is about five minutes away by car, and we see regular visits from Deerfield Beach and Fort Lauderdale too.
What else is worth trying alongside it?
If you want a second slice for the table, the Strawberry cake is the closest relative — fruit-forward and less nutty, so it doesn't compete with the pistachio. From there the case runs through Chocolate & Blueberry, Snickers, Honey & Raspberry, Napoleon and Honey Cake.
There's also the Strawberry Cheesecake Dessert Cup — cheesecake filling, strawberry sauce and cookie crumb — and cinnamon rolls in several flavors, including a Caramel Peanut Cinnamon Roll. For something savory before the sweet, there's Chicken Quiche and beef samsa.

Can you eat in or take it to go?
Both — New Level Coffee & Bakery does dine-in and takeout. A slice and a latte at a table is the usual order, and a boxed slice travels fine for a few minutes in the car.
If you're planning to stay a while, there's fast free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating, and we're happy for people to bring a laptop and work from the cafe during our 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM day. That setup is described in more detail on our laptop-friendly coffee shop page.
