What is medovik?
Medovik is a honey cake built from many thin layers of honey-scented sponge, stacked with sour-cream frosting between each one. It's a classic Eastern European cake, and the name comes from the word for honey. What makes it distinctive isn't a single bold flavor but the structure: layer after layer, each one thin enough that the frosting soaks in and softens it.
The result is a slice that tastes rich but eats light — honey and gentle tang, nothing heavy or overly sweet. If you grew up with this cake, you already know the texture you're looking for. If you've never had it, medovik is one of the easiest Eastern European desserts to fall for on the first bite.
How is our honey cake made?
Our honey cake is made in-house, every day, in our own bakery on East McNab Road. That matters more with medovik than with most desserts, because a honey cake is at its best when the layers have had just enough time to settle into the cream — soft, but still distinct.
We sell it by the slice, so you can have one with your coffee, take a couple home, or try it alongside another cake to see which one you like better. There's no need to order ahead for a slice: come by during opening hours in Pompano Beach and it's there.
What's the difference between Honey Cake and Honey & Raspberry?
Honey & Raspberry is our honey cake with raspberry running through it — the same honey character, brightened by fruit. The classic medovik is the quieter of the two: honey and sour cream, and that's the whole conversation. The Honey & Raspberry gives you a tart edge against the sweetness, which some people prefer, especially on a warm South Florida afternoon.
If you can't decide, take a slice of each. They're different enough to be worth comparing side by side, and both are made here in Pompano Beach.

What coffee should you drink with honey cake?
A cappuccino is the easy answer — the milk softens the espresso enough that it sits beside the honey rather than fighting it. Our espresso-based drinks are the natural pairing for a slice of medovik, and you have a few directions to go:
- Cappuccino or latte — milky and mild, the safest companion for a sweet cake.
- Americano or espresso — bitter and clean, a sharp contrast to the sour-cream frosting.
- Caramel Macchiato — sweet on sweet, if that's your mood.
- Iced Latte or Iced Coffee — for the months when hot coffee is asking too much.
Not a coffee drinker? Our lemonades are made cold and tart — Fresh, Peach, Lime & Mint, or Mandarin — and a tart lemonade against a honey cake is a genuinely good combination.

What else is worth trying while you're here?
Medovik is one of several cakes we make in-house daily. The other one people ask about by name is the Napoleon — many thin puff-pastry layers with custard cream, the Eastern European take on mille-feuille, and a close cousin to the honey cake in spirit if not in flavor.
Beyond those two, the lineup includes Pistachio & Raspberry, Strawberry, Chocolate & Blueberry, and Snickers, all sold by the slice. If you want something savory first, there's Chicken Quiche and beef samsa. You can look through everything on the full menu.
