Where can I buy medovik near Fort Lauderdale?
At New Level Coffee & Bakery, 698 East McNab Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33060 — we're open every day from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Honey Cake is one of the cakes we make in-house daily. Pompano Beach sits just north of Fort Lauderdale along the coast, so for most people in Broward County this is a straightforward trip rather than a day out. We're on McNab Road in north Pompano Beach, and both dine-in and takeout work: sit down with a slice and a cappuccino, or carry it home in a box. If you'd like to see the shop on a map before you set out, our visit section has the location and hours in one place.
What exactly is medovik, or Russian honey cake?
Medovik is a honey cake built from many thin baked layers stacked with a soft cream filling, traditionally sour-cream based — a classic across Eastern Europe, which is why you'll see it called Russian honey cake, Ukrainian honey cake, or simply medovik depending on who's describing it. The character comes from that construction: the honey layers soften into the cream as the cake rests, so a slice eats somewhere between cake and pastry, tender all the way through rather than fluffy. It isn't a frosted layer cake and it isn't heavy — the honey flavor is warm and clear, and the cream keeps it gentle. If medovik is specifically what you came for, we have a whole page on our Honey Cake (Medovik) and how we serve it.
What is Napoleon cake, and is it the same as mille-feuille?
Napoleon is the Eastern European take on mille-feuille: many thin layers of puff pastry stacked with custard cream. Same family, different habits — where the French version tends to arrive crisp and sharply cut, Napoleon is usually allowed to settle, so the pastry drinks in a little of the custard and goes from crackly to soft while keeping its layers distinct. You get dozens of them in a single slice. It's the dessert people describe as tasting like someone's grandmother made it, and it's genuinely hard to find in South Florida, which is part of why we keep making it. There's more on our Napoleon cake page.

Can I buy medovik and Napoleon by the slice?
Yes — both are sold by the slice, which is the easy way to settle the question of which one you like better. The cakes are made in-house daily, so a slice of each plus two coffees is a perfectly normal order, and plenty of people do exactly that on a first visit before committing to a favorite.
If you want to look further, the honey theme continues with Honey & Raspberry, where the raspberry cuts against the honey. The rest of the case runs toward fruit and chocolate:
- Pistachio & Raspberry
- Strawberry
- Chocolate & Blueberry
- Snickers
- Strawberry Cheesecake Dessert Cup — cheesecake filling, strawberry sauce, cookie crumb

What should I drink with honey cake or Napoleon?
Espresso-based coffee is the traditional partner, and we're a specialty coffee shop as much as a bakery. An Americano or a plain Espresso keeps the honey and custard front and center; a Cappuccino or Latte rounds everything out; a Caramel Macchiato leans sweet with sweet. Premium teas are also on the menu if you'd rather skip coffee entirely.
In Florida weather, there's a strong case for something cold instead. The lemonades are made fresh — Fresh Lemonade, Peach, Lime & Mint, Mandarin, Strawberry — and the sharpness works surprisingly well against a creamy slice. There's also Iced Latte, Iced Coffee, Iced Mocha, Iced Matcha Latte, and Iced Tea Premium. The full list is on our cakes and desserts page and on the menu.
