What coffee can you order here?
The espresso menu is six drinks: Espresso, Americano, Cappuccino, Latte, Caramel Macchiato and Iced Latte. Each one is pulled and built to order, which is the whole point of calling it specialty coffee rather than just coffee.
If you take it short and strong, the espresso is the reference point — everything else on the list starts from it. The Americano stretches that shot out for a longer, slower cup. The cappuccino and latte are the two most-ordered milk drinks, the caramel macchiato is the sweet one, and the iced latte is the one most people reach for in July. Premium teas are on the menu too if coffee isn't what you're after.
What cakes and desserts are made in-house?
The cakes are made in-house daily and sold by the slice. The lineup runs Pistachio & Raspberry, Strawberry, Chocolate & Blueberry, Snickers, Honey & Raspberry, Honey Cake (medovik) and Napoleon.
Two of them carry a long European tradition. Honey Cake, or medovik, is built from many thin honey layers with a soft cream filling — traditionally sour-cream based — so it eats soft and tangy rather than heavy. Napoleon is the Eastern European take on mille-feuille: many thin puff-pastry layers with custard cream between them.
Beyond the cakes there are cinnamon rolls in several flavors, including a Caramel Peanut Cinnamon Roll — soft, gooey, loaded with caramel and peanuts — and a Strawberry Cheesecake Dessert Cup layered with cheesecake filling, strawberry sauce and cookie crumb.
What cold drinks are on the menu?
The cold side of the menu is mostly lemonades and iced coffee. Lemonades come as Fresh Lemonade, Peach, Lime & Mint, Mandarin and Strawberry, all of them a reasonable answer to a Florida afternoon.
For something colder with caffeine in it, there's Iced Coffee, Iced Mocha, Iced Latte and an Iced Matcha Latte, plus Iced Tea Premium. Pair a lemonade with a slice of cake and that's a solid stop between errands in Pompano Beach — the lime and mint one in particular cuts through a sweeter dessert nicely.
Is there food, or just coffee and cake?
There is savory food alongside the coffee and desserts. The two savory bakes we can name are Chicken Quiche and beef samsa — the quiche in a proper pastry shell, the samsa a baked hand pie. The shop also keeps savory pastries on the counter under the broader heading of savory bites.
Together with a cappuccino, either one makes a real breakfast rather than a snack, which is why the shop lists breakfast as part of what it does. The pastries and desserts here lean European in style, and that shows up in the savory baking as well as the cakes.
Can you work from the cafe?
